Coverage
Based out of beautiful Byron, IL we are perfectly positioned to serve Ogle and Winnebago Counties with some coverage in Stephenson and Lee Counties as well. Hopwood Appraisal maintains a limited coverage area because knowledge of the area really matters.
Clients
We mostly work with local banks, credit unions and mortgage brokers as part of the mortgage process. The appraisal is typically the last part of that process prior to closing. Lenders seek assurances from an independent third party that the properties are worth what they are looking to loan on. Contrary to popular belief, appraisals support the agreed upon sale price an overwhelming majority of the time. After all, we are interpreting the actions of buyers and sellers NOT determining them.
About Us
My name is Mark Hopwood and I’m the owner/operator of Hopwood Appraisal. I have been an appraiser in northern Illinois since 2012 and have lived here my whole life. I grew up in Rochelle and graduated from the old RTHS. I lived in Rockford for 8 years at the beginning of my career and now call Byron my home to be closer to family. Chances are you know a relative of mine here in Ogle County. Maybe we’ve been paired together on the golf course, crossed paths on one of the hiking trails or partners in pickleball.
